We are delighted to announce that the Vertigo Magazine archive will soon be available through Close-Up's website www.closeupfilmcentre.com

Vertigo is a unique project which champions innovation and diversity in form and culture for independent film and the moving image. Through its magazine, website and special events, Vertigo engages audiences, educators, students and practitioners, introducing new work and critical debate.

Read articles from writers including: John Berger, Nick Bradshaw, Chris Darke, Chris Dercon, Paul Gilroy, Stuart Hood, Mark Cousins, Henry K Miller, S.F. Said, Sukhdev Sandhu, Geoffrey Noel Smith as well as regular contributions from a host of up and coming new writers.

Read interviews and comments from directors including: Theo Angelopolous, Eija-Liisa Ahtila, Merzak Allouache, Atom Egoyan, Victor Erice, Isaac Julien, Mike Hodges, Shekhar Kapur, Abbas Kiarostami, Andrew Kotting, Robert Lepage, Ken Loach, Chris Marker, John Maybury, Sally Potter, Lynne Ramsay, Raul Ruiz and Michael Winterbottom.

Vertigo has also participated in key events hosting panels and debates on independent film and film policy including the Independent Film Parliament 2003 and 2005; 2004 and 2005, panel debates on UK and international film culture at the Commonwealth Film Festival in Manchester; New language for Documentary, Encounter with Berger, London, 2005.

History
The magazine has been going since 1993. Originally founded and edited by the innovative documentary filmmaker Marc Karlin, it has stood the test of time and kept a lively, creative and diverse readership informed about the work of the independent film and video sectors across the world. Now in its 17th year, the magazine hopes to develop its growing readership to new heights through its new website.

We actively welcome articles for consideration. Please send an email to the above address in the first instance with your proposal. All contributions to Vertigo are currently on a voluntary basis.
